Turkey Day is a great event that serves thousands in our community and where dozens are serving.
About Turkey Day
Every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the Rio Vista Center serves over 2,500 people from the community. Last year, the center distributed 931 frozen turkeys and bags of food as well as served over 1,800 plates of turkey dinner during our annual Turkey Day event. We are so grateful for your generous donations and the 200+ volunteers that made the event possible.
Turkey Day 2020 is on November 21 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM! With COVID-19 precautions in mind, the event will look a little different this year. Instead of gathering together for the traditional hot turkey meal, we will be handing out Thanksgiving fixings for families in our community to take home and enjoy with their friends and family. Get involved and help hurting families in our community who are facing difficult circumstances this holiday season. For more information, please contact Debbie at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (602) 689-7457.
Your support makes a difference for people like Demi, who pulled into the Rio Vista Center’s parking lot one Turkey Day to see what was drawing such a crowd. She learned we were handing out frozen turkeys and fixings for families to take home. “From the time I got out of the car to the time that I left, everyone was excellent,” she shared. Demi has since returned to the center for material assistance, such as food and clothing, and has been building relationships with the employees and volunteers at the center. “Right now, I’m having some hardships in my life and they have sustained me. And I thank you so much for people like me, that when we have hard times, you are here.” It is because of the Lord’s provision and the generosity of supporters that we are able to provide hope and care for families in South Phoenix while sharing the love of Christ with each person we come in contact with. *Name changed
